Tropical Clothing
Dress is very casual throughout Costa Rica. Most Ticos and tourists wear t-shirts and shorts. Clothing should be light. Bring a bathing suit, thongs or sandals, sneakers or walking boots, camera, rechargable batteries, and spares. Also bring sun-screen, insect repellent, sunglasses (two pairs is a good idea) and a sunhat. There is no formal dining night on the boat.

If you bring more than one suitcase, you brought way too much.

Seasickness
Most of us are queasy, if not seasick for the first 24-48 hours of any sail. Eliminating coffee and increasing water intake greatly reduces the chance of seasickness and dehydration. Dramamine (oral) works well if taken beforehand, the "patch" gives 3-4 days of protection, and Stugeron is the only one that works once you are sick (people swear by it). If in serious doubt, you should obtain 12 Compazine (generic name: prochlorperazine) 10 mg. suppositories (NOT ORAL) which is hard-core protection. Candied ginger is the ONLY non-pharmaceutical that has been proven to help (wrist bands and all others are a waste of money). Please try this or any prescription seasickness drug out before joining the trip to check for possible side effects.

Fishing Gear
We have three rods and reels with a selection of lures. If you are really into fishing, bring your own setup or at least your favorite lures.

Snorkel Gear
We have ten sets of moderate quality masks, fins and snorkels. Feel free to bring your own as there is ample opportunity to use them.

Vegging Gear
We have six hammocks on the upper deck. Bring your own books, magazines, music and other items to accessorize.

Money
Theoretically you don't need any money because everything is inclusive. However, you will need to pay $26 for your exit Visa at your departure airport. You may also wish to buy t-shirts, tip the crew or buy additional drinks, so we recommend that you bring $200 - $400 US.
What To Bring
DO NOT BRING (IMPORTANT):
■ Bug spray (we have plenty)
■ Laptop or Blackberry. This is your hard-earned vacation. Certainly you can get away from work for a week!
■ Alkaline batteries. If you need to bring batteries, bring rechargeables...we have plenty of 110v AC power outlets.) Batteries cannot be disposed of properly or recycled out here.
■ First Aid Kit. We have a fairly good one. However, we are NOT responsible for medical emergencies or care. We will promptly call for emergency assistance should there be an injury.
Essentials
■ Passport. Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay in Costa Rica. Bring a copy, too.
■ Prepaid airline ticket out of Costa Rica. Copy of this as well. Immigration will ask to see this upon arrival.
■ US cash for departure tax. Cash needs to be unmarked and crisp. USD dated prior to 2001 are generally not accepted.
■ Visa. A tourist Visa will be issued upon arrival if you have a passport from a North American or European country. If some other country, use this handy travel visa lookup tool. Always check your embassy's website here in Costa Rica for the latest information on traveling here.
Note: All bedding and in-room bath towels are provided on the boat. Bring your own beach towel and toiletries, including soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
